Ingredients
Scale
1 sleeve Saltine crackers
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange the Saltine crackers in a single layer.
In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar together over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a boil.
Pour the caramel mixture over the crackers evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until bubbly.
Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips on top. Let them sit for a few minutes to melt, then spread the melted chocolate evenly.
If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts over the chocolate.
Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
Notes
For a festive touch, drizzle with white chocolate after cooling.
Ensure not to overbake, as the toffee can burn quickly.
