Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract; then add to the dry ingredients.
  4. Stir in the blackberry puree until well combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
